 A SUMMONS TO DENY

The Church At Lake Bohinj

By PAUL HERTELENDY

A village church quite venerable
With towering steeple needling the sky
Casts, upside down, reflections on the tranquil mirror lake
As, steeped in irony,
The lofty bells proclaim a sunny Sunday morning
Heedless of the gate-post placard:
CLOSED FOR RESTORATION.
